Swim Like a Fish with Everyone Active
Swimming is a really important life skill to teach your children. A recent report from the Amateur Swimming Association demonstrates that a third of children leave primary school without being able to swim 25 metres. Don’t let your child be at risk near water – enrol in Everyone Active’s award-winning swimming lessons for all ages.
Everyone Active offers a range of different sessions that are designed to keep the whole family active whilst enjoying the water. Best of all, when you enrol, or re-enrol in their swimming lessons programme, you get free entry* at a Sea Life centre of your choice! The offer is valid to 31 October 2014. Terms and conditions apply, see www.everyoneactive.com for further details.
* The person taking swimming lessons gets free entry when accompanied by another person paying full price.
Jigsaw: Every Child Counts
Too often we hear the expression ‘every child counts,’ but what does this actually mean? At Jigsaw each child is recognised as having different qualities that should be nurtured and developed in a safe environment with fun and friendship at the forefront.
With a high volume of talent shows on TV it is often assumed that performing arts is associated with a thirst for fame and stardom. Of course, there are many Jigsaw students who are destined for stage success. However, the skills that are developed at Jigsaw are much more centred on confidence, self-expression and individuality. To obtain this, Jigsaw pride themselves on running small classes with top quality performing arts teachers who have the patience to cater for and inspire every single child.
Jigsaw work to instil into children at a young age the belief that they can achieve their goals, whatever they may be. If they can do that, they feel they have succeeded. For more information about Jigsaw’s classes call 020 8447 4530 or visit www.jigsaw-arts.co.uk.
Happy Birthday Young and Talented
Young and Talented is celebrating its tenth year of nurturing and developing young people using the performing arts. From its twin homes in Tower Hamlets and Barking, Y&T’s dramatic talent continues to grow apace, with some of its current crop of youngsters appearing in such iconic productions such as Dr Who and Casualty alongside established children’s TV dramas The Dumping Ground and Rockets Island. As Suzann McLean, the Artistic Director told Primary Times, “Our mission remains the same from day one and 10 years on the legacy is unmistakable”. Young and Talented present their mission as ‘Y&T for Stage, Screen and Life; valuable performance skills and invaluable skills for life’.
