Do you get enough sleep?

Whether it’s curling up after a long day at work, snuggling under the duvet on a cold winter’s evening or sleeping in on a lazy Sunday morning, our bedsshould be a haven of rest and relaxation. However, a new survey has revealed that this may not actually be the case, as over half of Brits have admitted they are struggling to get a good night’s sleep. Research conducted by Dormeo Octaspring has looked into the nation’s sleeping habits and found that it is women who are suffering the most from sleeping difficulties, with 64% admitting to not getting a good night’s sleep compared with only 50% of men. The survey also revealed that East Anglia is the most tired area of the country, with 68% of people in the region believing they are failing to get a good night’s sleep.

The survey also revealed that East Anglia is the most tired area of the country, with 68% of people in the region believing they are failing to get a good night’s sleep. With people struggling to get their heads down in their own beds, the research has also revealed some of the surprising places people have found themselves drifting off. Some of these unlikely slumber locations include a skip, a field of cows and even a cemetery. Experts have advised that getting the right mattress can have a significant impact on your quality of sleep, however only 23% of people in the survey said they would actually consider buying a new mattress to try and get a better night’s sleep.

One of the main reasons people put off buying a new mattress is that they fear making a mistake; mattresses can be an expensive investment and if you do get it wrong it is something you may have to live with for a long time. According to the Sleep Council you should be looking to replace your mattress every seven years to ensure getting the best possible night’s sleep. For further information, visit www.octaspring.co.uk
